The new location for the four-day FlowerTrial 2023 was located at Kwekerij Bloem en Tuin in de Lier/NL was well accepted. 

Many visitors, including the team at Selecta, from home and abroad were welcomed and had many interesting conversations. The Selecta team would like to thank everyone who attended for the interest in the varieties and the positive feedback on the exhibition and the quality of the plants.

As it warms up in the Northern Hemisphere, Emirates SkyCargo is scaling up its cool chain capacity for perishables, preparing for a busy summer season of weddings and outdoor events. As the demand for decorative floral arrangements increases, May 2023 saw Emirates SkyCargo transport 3,590 tonnes of time- and temperature-sensitive fresh cut flowers, a 20 percent rise from the same period last year.

Ecuador and Kenya are the top two export origin locations; Ecuador in particular has experienced a steady rise in flower trade in recent years, increasing its exports with Emirates SkyCargo by 21

Over $135,000 was raised in support of the floral industry through the Endowment’s 2023 Campaign. FloraLife, a division of Smithers-Oasis Company, and worldwide leader in providing solutions throughout the flower journey from farm to vase, has announced that it is moving toward post-consumer recycled material containers. The containers included in the changeover are 5-, 10- and 20-liter containers across all product lines, with other sizes to follow.

Initially, the products packaged in PCR containers will be available in Europe and Colombia, South America, with plans to move to other areas globally, including the U.S.  The containers in Europe are made from 100 percent PCR content and in

Rio Roses was again front and center in fashion, showcasing flowers at the annual Miami Swim Week. Rio Roses partnered with Art Hearts Fashion, a globally recognized fashion show production organization, to present beautiful blooms at this series of runway shows and events featuring the latest in swim and resort wear.
