CBP tops 1B cut flower imports for Valentine’s Day
For Valentine’s Day, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agriculture specialists received and inspected more than 1 billion cut flower shipments since Jan. 1, for pests and diseases that could harm U.S. agricultural and floral industries.
“Increased shipments of flowers make this a very busy time for CBP, but our agriculture specialists are ready and able to meet this demand while safeguarding our nation against agricultural threats,” said Troy A. Miller, CBP senior official performing the duties of the commissioner.
Last year, CBP officials inspected more than 352 million mixed bouquets
