The New England Produce Council held its 27th annual golf tournament Tuesday, July 25, at the Waverly Oaks Golf Club in Plymouth, MA. About 156 golfers participated at the event, according to NEPC Executive Director Laura Sullivan.

As in previous years, money raised from the golf tournament will benefit the NEPC Scholarship Fund.

The council's next event will be its annual Produce, Floral & Food Service Expo, scheduled to take place Aug. 21-22 at the Encore Boston Harbor.

Last week IFPA Foodservice Conference attendees enjoyed temperate Monterey, CA, where they had an opportunity to network at a bevy of events beyond the conference, opening reception and expo. From IFPA's Women's Fresh Perspectives Happy Hour and the Fresh Avenue Mixer to the Church Bros. Ranch Party and Tanimura & Antle's Laguna Seca Raceway Cocktail Reception, the opportunity to connect with friends and colleagues was ever-present.

MONTEREY, CA — The foodservice segment of the produce industry is alive and well, as evidenced by the strong turnout at the IFPA Foodservice Conference, held here July 27-28.

Always a favorite with industry members, this year’s conference drew approximately 2,200 attendees and more than 930 buyers, who navigated the packed expo floor that included nearly 30 first-time exhibitors. Additionally, more than 30 exhibitors featured kid-friendly products.

While much of the country was mired in an oppressive heat wave, IFPA Foodservice Conference attendees escaped to temperate Monterey, CA, where they had an opportunity to connect and network in a friendly and relaxed setting. The conference kicked off Thursday, July 27, at an opening reception held at the Barns. The reception was sponsored by the Idaho Potato Commission, California Giant, Taylor Farms, Ocean Mist, Gold Coast Packing, C&S Family Farms and Pepper.

TUSTIN, CA — Fresh Produce & Floral Council members gathered July 18 for the sold-out 31st annual FPFC golf tournament at Tustin Ranch Golf Club, here. Players enjoyed an 18-hole course, with breakfast provided by Taqueria de Anda and lunch by Messi Burger. After a full day of golfing, players enjoyed a happy hour bar and tacos while FPFC Chair Michael Schutt and tournament Chair Adam Laliberte auctioned off over $10,000 in cash and gift cards for raffle prizes and recognized the winning teams.

Attended by port officials and South African citrus importers, Holt Logistics held a press conference and reception to commemorate its longtime partnership with Summer Citrus from South Africa.
