ALDI is adding 120 new stores this year. At a time when inflation is forcing some retailers to slow growth, or even shutter stores, ALDI said customers are actively asking for more of its locations in their communities. Known for its unique shopping experience and selection of products at low prices, ALDI will have more than 2,400 stores nationwide by the end of the year.

“While inflation is undoubtedly driving unprecedented demand for affordable groceries, we know that once customers experience the ALDI difference, they keep shopping with us, even when the economy improves,” said Jason Hart

The International Fresh Produce Association gathered over 250 industry leaders and volunteers at the Spring Policy & Regulatory Forum hosted in Washington, DC. The event brings together industry volunteers to discuss issues important to the industry. The IFPA board of directors held a meeting in conjunction with this event. After a series of committee and council meetings and education sessions, volunteers march on the Hill to meet with elected officials, members of the Administration and Embassy professionals.

Matt Steve Pandol Jr. died unexpectedly at his home in Delano, CA, on April 21. He was 60.

Mr. Pandol was born June 27, 1962, to Matt and Lucy (Tudor) Pandol. Upon completing his high school education in Delano in 1980, Mr. Pandol attended Fresno State University, graduating with a degree in plant science. Following college he returned to Delano to work alongside his family in their farming/produce marketing businesses in Delano.

Equitable Food Initiative and Measure to Improve announced the successful completion of the two-year Produce & Reduce pilot program that was implemented on three farming operations and funded by the California Workforce Development Board. Since partnering with Stop & Shop in 2021, nearly 40,000 shoppers across the Northeast have used Flashfood to save money on groceries while also diverting over 284,345 pounds of food from landfills.
