Don Goodwin, founder and former owner of GoldenSun Insights, a strategy centric firm focused in the fresh produce industry, died Sunday, April 18. He was 58 years old.

An industry veteran, Mr. Goodwin had an extensive career in the produce industry spanning 40 years, during which he touched just about every aspect of the supply chain — from procurement to wholesale to marketing.

Mr. Goodwin began his career as a graduate of Western Michigan University’s Food Distribution Program.

Before founding GoldenSun Insights in 2004, Mr. Goodwin led Target’s produce division with the rollout of

BJ’s Wholesale Club Holdings Inc. announced that the company’s Board of Directors has appointed Bob Eddy as president and CEO. Eddy joined the company in 2007 and was named interim CEO in April 2021 following the death of Lee Delaney. He will assume day-to-day leadership of the company and will also join BJ’s Board of Directors.

Hy-Vee Inc. announced that Jason Buhrow has been named the company’s chief data officer, where he will oversee the development and governance of data strategy for the more than $11 billion company. Buhrow’s areas of focus also will include innovation in the area of enterprise-wide data science, analysis and visualization.

Nature Fresh Farms’ very own Product Development Specialist Luci Faas has been recognized for her excellence in the produce industry.

The Canadian Produce Marketing Association has developed the Women in Produce initiative to recognize the achievements of outstanding women in the produce industry. Faas, along with nine other women, were nominated by industry peers for their contributions to promoting produce in the industry. The 10 honorees were recognized during CPMA’s Fresh Summit virtual event.

John Anderson, chairman, CEO and managing partner of The Oppenheimer Group, has been named the recipient of the 2021 CPMA Lifetime Achievement Award. He was honored at the CPMA Fresh Week.
