Andy D’Arrigo was born in Stockton, CA, on Feb. 1, 1924 to Stefano and Concetta D’Arrigo.  Stefano, an immigrant from Messina, Sicily, arrived at the immigration station at Ellis Island in New York aboard RMS Cretic on May 5, 1911 at the age of 17.

At age two-and-a-half, Andy’s picture became the iconic brand for the company.  After serving in the Navy in WWII, Andy earned a bachelor's degree from University of California-Davis, and in 1965 at the age of 41 became president of D’Arrigo Bros. Co. of California.

Sun World International LLC has appointed Jennifer Petersen as executive vice president and chief science officer. In this new leadership position, she will oversee all activities, staff and partnerships pertaining to breeding, variety development, genetics and related technologies.

The company develops premium varieties of table grapes and stone fruits. Petersen will be instrumental in expanding Sun World’s genetics portfolio as it seeks to bring new and improved fresh fruit to consumers worldwide, according to David Marguleas, CEO and president of the company.

Del Rey Avocado announced that Justin Warren has recently been appointed Del Rey Avocado’s new chief financial officer. To help ensure a smooth transition, Warren has been working closely with Bob Siemer, partner, and chief financial officer for the past year as director of finance. A seasoned member of Del Rey Avocado's finance team, Warren will also play a key management role and will be reporting to the company’s board of directors.
