Bob Besix, senior vice president of sales for Giorgio Fresh, died Tuesday, March 8. He was 60 years old.

An industry veteran, Mr. Besix had an extensive career in the produce industry, starting at Ralston Purina squeegeeing the floors in the growing rooms.

Throughout his life, Mr. Besix displayed a strong work ethic and an understanding of people that propelled him upward on his journey. As the company changed hands, Mr. Besix learned and grew each time, eventually earning him the position of packing room supervisor. Pear Bureau Northwest President and CEO Kevin Moffitt has been appointed to the Produce for Better Health Foundation finance and audit committee. Additionally, Jim Morris, marketing communications manager, has joined the management board of the Alliance for Food and Farming.

Benjamin (Ben) Mossing is Monterey Mushrooms' newest teammate, joining as a regional sales manager based out of Texas. Mossing will manage fresh retail and foodservice mushroom sales in the Southwest region.

In this role, Mossing will be responsible for the sales of mushrooms grown, packed and shipped from the company's Madisonville, TX, farm, which grows, harvests and packs conventional and organic whites, Baby Bellas and Portabella mushrooms.
