Longtime fresh produce professional Victor Anderson joined global fresh produce company Terra Exports as its new chief commercial officer.

Prior to joining Terra Exports, Anderson spent 10 years working in fresh produce at T&G, and five years in international trade with other perishable products. As part of his time at T&G, Anderson spent six-and-a-half years working in Vietnam and Thailand establishing new import offices with sales, marketing and operations teams to drive closer relationships with customers — ultimately driving sales growth.

Mark S. Hanks, a long-time executive formerly with DNE World Fruit, died surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 29, just shy of his 72nd birthday.

Mr. Hanks was born on July 2, 1950 in Kilgore, TX, and grew up in Southern California.  He attended UC-Santa Barbara before pursuing his acting and dance career in New York City and Los Angeles. His love for the performing arts took him from being a high school gymnast to dancing with the Joffrey Ballet and acting and performing in the theatre.

Don Bowden, a pioneer in the food industry and founder of Wholly Guacamole, died Sept. 14 at the age of 90. Mr. Bowden has been credited with leading the growth of the fresh scooped avocado and guacamole industry to where it is today by actively innovating and investing in the process of transforming raw avocados into fresh, packaged guacamole and avocado being sold in foodservice and retail.

Jerry Nelson Hines, a Colorado onion grower and owner of Hines Farm, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Hope West Hospice in Grand Junction, CO. He was 82 years old.

Mr. Hines was, among many things, a farmer and business owner. He served on several boards, including the Farm Service Agency, National Onion Association, Colorado Co-op Exchange and the Delta Co-op.

Mr. Hines was born May 16, 1940, in Bertram County, TX. His parents were George Penn and Verda Virginia (Johnson) Hines.
