U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture will purchase an additional $1.5 billion worth of food for nationwide distribution through the Farmers to Families Food Box Program. In total, USDA has distributed more than 132 million food boxes in support of American farmers and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Mango Board highlighted that, despite the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 health crisis in 2020, mango consumption in the United States had continued to grow.

“We still don't have all the figures, but we have seen an increase in per capita consumption," said Manuel Michel, the executive director of the National Mango Board. "Normally, mango consumption increases by 3 to 4 percent a year. This year it will increase by 5 percent or more. In 2020 consumption increase by 3.4 to 3.5 pounds per person.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has imposed sanctions on Poblano Fresh Produce Corp. in Los Angeles for violating the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act. These sanctions include barring the business and the principal operator of the business from engaging in PACA-licensed business or other activities without approval from USDA.

Poblano Fresh failed to pay $230,918 to one seller for produce that was purchased, received and accepted in interstate and foreign commerce from October 2019 to November 2019. This is in violation of the PACA. Poblano Fresh cannot operate in the produce
