The World Avocado Organization and the historic San Diego Yacht Club will host the second edition of the World Avocado Cup Regatta July 31-Aug. 1.  The regatta is co-sponsored by the Peruvian Avocado Commission and the California Avocado Commission.

Based in St. Cloud, MN, Coborn’s is a 100-year-old employee-owned grocery retailer with nearly 9,300 employees and 59 grocery stores across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin operating under the Coborn’s, Cash Wise Foods, Marketplace Foods and Hornbacher’s banners.

Four Seasons Produce, based in Ephrata, PA, announced the winners of its Berry Bonanza retail display contest, held in conjunction with Driscoll’s.

The contest was available for Four Seasons’ independent retailer, natural food store and food co-op customers who purchased and displayed organic and/or conventional Driscoll’s berries through Four Seasons Produce. Entries were accepted from May 17 to June 14 and were required to have at least three different berry varieties in their displays, promoting the Berry Patch concept.

Joe Pezzini likes to say his family were small family farmers before it was in vogue.

He grew up in the Salinas Valley, which is where his grandfather, Giuseppe Pezzini, and his father, Angelo Pezzini, landed after immigrating from Italy in the 1930s. His grandfather started farming and growing artichokes in the Carmel Valley, near Highway 1, where the crop was a recipient of the cool ocean breezes.
