During Hunger Action Month, Publix is highlighting the many ways the company helps alleviate hunger year-round. G&R Farms hired Jon Ellis, who will be serving as the company's operations manager.

Ellis is a long-time resident of Glenville, GA, and brings an array of skills to the G&R Farms team, including experience in mechanical, logistics, quality control and manufacturing. Most recently he worked in the aerospace industry. Ellis also served in the U.S. Army for over two decades and recently retired from active duty.

As part of its SEPC Cares initiative, the Southeast Produce Council partnered with the Society of St. Andrew and Publix Super Markets to deliver a straight load of drinking water in response to the devastation left by Hurricane Ida. The last time the New England Produce Floral & Food Service Expo was held the NEPC was celebrating its 20th anniversary and things were looking great for the produce industry. Of course, that was back in 2019, before the pandemic resulted in the cancellation of the 2020 show.
