The U.S. Department of Agriculture administered four produce businesses have received sanctions from due to failure to meet contractual obligations to the sellers of produce and failing to pay reparation awards issued under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act. Suspencion of PACA licenses and barring principal operators from engaging in PACA-licensed business or other activities without approval from USDA are included in the sanctions.

The conditions across the West settled into mild temperatures for a couple weeks. Now the forecast is predicting that a storm is brewing for many locations, including snow in Northern and Central California. Coastal Southern California is expecting one to four inches of rain this Thursday and Friday. It is likely that cold wintery weather is going to hit some of the growing areas again.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture filed an administrative complaint against Frozen Food Development Inc. for alleged violations of the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act. The company, operating from Pennsylvania, allegedly failed to make payment promptly to 22 produce sellers in the amount of $2.48 million from July 2021 through June 2022.
