Fresh Solutions Network announced that a sustainable packaging design for SPUDS less-than-perfect potatoes was awarded first place in the nationwide Student Design Challenge. The winning design, created by a team of four Pennsylvania College of Art & Design students, was announced on Sept. 30 at the sold-out 2024 Paperboard Packaging Council's Fall Meeting & Leadership Conference in Atlanta. Non-GMO, gluten-free, all-natural SPUDS less-than-perfect potatoes were launched in 2023 with the sustainability and value-focused consumer in mind.

The New York Apple Association has tapped Nancy Fuller, a renowned American celebrity chef on the Food Network. Nancy serves as a judge on the popular “Holiday Baking Championship and Spring Baking Championship” television shows. The celebrity chef is also known as the host of the Food Network television series “Farmhouse Rules,” where she shares her passion for farm-fresh ingredients and traditional cooking. The show is readily available through streaming as her popularity continues to grow. She is also the author of the cookbook “Farmhouse Rules: Simple, Seasonal Meals for the Whole Family.”

In the aftermath of two devastating Hurricanes impacting growing operations in the Southeast, growers across the region continue to assess damage and repairing infrastructure. Tennessee, Georgia and the Carolina’s took the brunt of Helene with Central Florida taking a direct hit from Milton all within a couple of weeks. Given the impact from these two hurricanes fall supplies from the southeast will be severely impacted going forward to say the least. Numerous crops have been impacted (citrus, corn, cabbage, beans, eggplant, peppers tomato, squash, strawberries) among others, to what extent
